Artist Robyn Bellospirito has been exhibiting her art for over thirty-five years in galleries and museums in the New York metropolitan area, around the country and abroad. Robyn is listed in Who's Who in American Art and Who's Who of American Women and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Art History. She has worked in some of New York's finest museums, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Frick Collection.

In 1981 Robyn was one of 150 art students in New York State to be accepted into the New York State Summer School of the Arts (NYSSSA) which took place at Fredonia University. Upon graduating high school in 1982, she was the recipient of the New York State Art Teachers Association Award.

For three years (1993-96) Robyn Bellospirito published The Exhibitioner Art Magazine which featured the work of emerging and established artists from around the country, and she curated solo and group art exhibitions at local galleries during that time.

In 1992 the Manhasset Public Library in Manhasset, NY, attempted to censor Robyn's work and denied her a scheduled show, on the grounds that three of her paintings contained nudity. The three paintings are titled "Lovers of the Past", "Tears in the Machine," and "As Angels Fly Away". Following a two and a half year battle in Federal Court, Judge Thomas Platt ruled in Ms. Bellospirito's favor and in favor of the protection of free speech. The case set a precedent in the Eastern District of New York, and in January 1996 the artist was given back her show which included the three disputed works. Read more about the court case here: http://www.artistrights.info/decision_bellospirito-v-manhasset-public-library
